DI Boxes

A DI or Direct Injection box (or sometimes called DI Unit) is used in live sound and recording systems to connect a wide range of line level audio devices (such as electronic instruments, bass and keyboard amps, computers etc) into professional balanced inputs found in mixers and other professional audio equipment.

The DI performs a number of important functions including level matching, balancing, and impedance matching ... all aimed at extracting the cleanest possible signal and minimising noise, distortion, and hum (usually from earth or ground loops).
