Katie Wardrobe is a Melbourne-based music technology trainer, consultant, blogger and podcaster with a passion for helping music teachers through her business
Midnight Music
. She runs hands-on professional development workshops throughout Australia and a popular series of online courses. Her workshops and courses focus on incorporating technology into the music curriculum through a range of creative projects.
Katie is a qualified teacher and has worked in a variety of music and education-related workplaces, including Sibelius Australia and Orchestra Victoria. She has also worked as a freelance copyist, music arranger and transcriber for more than 20 years.
In 2011 she released an ebook for users of open-source software program MuseScore, titled
MuseScore: The Essential Beginner's Guide
and in 2012 she authored a keyboard and music technology program for middle school students titled
Studio Sessions
(published by MusicEDU). Katie has had articles published by magazines such as
Music In Action
and
Education Technology Solutions.
In 2011, 2013 and 2014 Katie worked as the Project Manager of the Soundhouse Music Alliance's bi-annual
Music Technology in Education Conference
and she has presented at hundreds of music and education-related conferences and events.
She is also known as an expert in the practical integration of iPads in music education and in 2014 published
iPad Projects for the Music Classroom
- a collection of step-by-step creative projects for primary and middle-school students. In 2016, Katie opened the
Midnight Music Community
- an online professional development learning space especially for music teachers using technology. Katie is also the host of the
Music Tech Teacher podcast
which was launched in early 2017.
